Mission Statement

The mission of the Repercussion Group is to insist upon ethical and transparent evidence-based research and guideline development concerning trauma-induced brain injury utilizing a person-centered perspective.

Guiding Principles

The Repercussion Group:

1. Acknowledges the vulnerability of the brain to traumatic injury;

2. Acknowledges that people are vulnerable and have a right to accurate information regarding risk in relationship to trauma-induced brain injuries;

3. Understands that trauma-induced brain injuries have outcomes that can have profound long-term effects on personal health and families;

4. Values a person-centered approach, knowing that all stakeholders, including patients and families/whanau, should have their voice heard and are entitled to a ‘duty-of-care’;

5. Supports independent research that is structured to investigate key issues relating to potential causal and connected factors of trauma-induced brain injury;

6. Aspires to achieve ethical behavior in trauma-induced research, guideline development, and clinical practice founded on radical transparency;

7. Values and champions evidence-based research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of trauma-induced brain injury which is free of conflicts of interest;

8. Takes a precautionary approach to research and data analysis, acknowledging that interpretation is based on judgment and that judgment should be predicated upon the precautionary principle of ‘first do no harm.’
